Dune by Frank Herbert My rating: 5 of 5 stars The best. Classic Sci-Fi Space Opera that is so influential I honestly cannot tell you what Sci-Fi does not owe this book a HUGE debt. Easy to read, complex, slowly unfurling epic world-building glory. Just great fun and easy read. Women in my reading group disliked it for essentially feminist reasons (all women are witches, schemers, their power comes from men and marriage, etc.), which is likely a fair complaint. Still, I feel it opens a LOT more doors than it closes. Required reading. View all my reviews
