The Chariot
The Chariot is numbered seven and usually depicts a warrior driving a chariot triumphantly home. The chariot is drawn by powerful and wild creatures. These creatures are our Will – a wayward beast to control at the best of times!
The Chariot represents the principle that the human Will functions only when the whole being is behind it. This card is about the struggles we have with ourselves and with life. It promises that with diligence, honesty and perseverence we can overcome the most insurmountable of obstacles. This is a hopeful and encouraging card, reminding us that we can climb to the heights if we want to. Here we are taught how to master the opposing forces within us, in order to bring them and thus ourselves into harmony. We are cosmic warriors, unfurling, learning and growing – divine and vital parts of the Universe.WorkingThis is a card which contains within it great dynamism, strength and power. Often, when it comes up, it indicates a period where we feel we have struggled through a difficult and demanding time, battling against long odds to achieve the things that we need out of life. It does confirm that we have emerged victorious, though we may feel a bit battered and weary.
So in one sense the Chariot marks the time of respite and peace after the battle is won. But it indicates something else very important too. After every battle, once we have rested and recuperated, it becomes necessary to begin a new flow of energy – we have to clean up the debris of the struggle, plan our next move, determine the direction we intend to move in now.
But when the Chariot emerges it indicates something else as well – as a result of the difficulties and struggles now at an end, we shall need to change some of the features of our lives. So it also indicates big changes, and promises that these will be beneficial and rewarding, bringing further triumph and success with them.
So on a day ruled by the Chariot, allow yourself a big sigh of relief, and know that recent problems are coming to an end. Then consider what might be left to be finished up with regard to those events. And once you’ve done that, turn your face to the future and decide what would be the best new direction for you.
Try to think through each step of this new impulse, so that your plans are carefully laid. It’s important now to pay close attention to detail, because once these changes begin, life will be moving very fast indeed and there will be no room for catching up on things (I write this sighing somewhat, because I’m already having trouble keeping up with the speed of my life at the minute ;-).
Affirmation: I move through life triumphantly. -
The Knight of Swords
When the Knight of Swords comes up to indicate a man, he will be intelligent, subtle and clever. His capacity for abstract thought will be well developed. He is also highly intuitive and perceptive. His nature will be elusive and ethereal, yet he has a strength and fascination that is hard to deny. He compels attention, except when he doesn’t want it, and at those times you will not even notice him pass by.Because of the enquiring and analytic nature of his mind, you will often find him involved in occult study, and following spiritual pursuits. Whilst tolerant of those who know less than him, he will not divulge his knowledge easily. Rather those who wish to learn from him must fight to see him clearly, rather than falling for the projections he readily casts around him.If this man is badly dignified his subtlety turns to manipulation, and his fascination to glamour. In this way, he becomes unprincipled and self-seeking. There is a certain ruthlessness present in the Knight of Swords at all times.Even when we meet him at his best, he makes a hard task master, and an acutely keen observer. The sword in his hand will quite often be used to cut to the heart of things – and sometimes we will not be comfortable with what is revealed. When this card comes up to indicate a state of mind in a man not normally seen as a Knight of Swords, we are then dealing with quite another issue. Now we must address the darkest qualities of the card. This is an angry man, who has quite possibly been emotionally hurt, and may well be looking for revenge. He has the potential to be physically violent and mentally cruel. He is a nasty enemy and somebody who needs to be treated with the utmost caution.WorkingThis card brings in a swift, bright energy which clears our heads, allowing us to see right the way to the heart of things, undistracted by clutter or red herrings. Here we can ‘cut to the chase’ so to speak, avoiding any of the tempting, but wasteful, side issues that may come up around important issues.
If you flow well with this energy, you’ll finding yourself thinking quickly and clearly, finding unexpected solutions to apparently intractable problems. Matters which had, until now, refused to yield their solutions, will suddenly start willingly spitting them out, so you can clear several obstacles from your path on a day ruled by the Knight of Swords.
Intuition plays quite a strong role here, too, as you move into closer touch with your psychic ability, thereby accessing answers to awkward questions which you had before felt frustrated by.
Accordingly, on a day ruled by the Knight of Swords, pick out the things which have been giving you headaches in the last little while. Spend a little time (not too much) considering the apparent obstacles and difficulties of the problem. Then forget it! At some point during the day, a solution should quite simply pop into your head. Also keep a close watch on your dreams overnight – these may contain the answers you seek. You can probably get away with dealing with two medium serious problems – but if you have one BIG one, only concentrate on that.
Also be alert to messages and hints coming through the normal patterns of life. Sometimes you’ll get explanations from the most unexpected sources. -
The Queen of Swords

understanding a great deal about both the great triumphs, and the deepest failings of the race. Her clarity and measured expression will be of great value at times of confusion and sadness.a widow, or a woman passing through the aftermath of divorce
coldness, judgementalism, criticism
perception and insight. I
can feel uneasy, discomforted and awkward when being observed by her.
absorbed by the intricacies of the process of life
Struggle to seek behind that mask for the whole being beyond.
Look hard at yourself. You take up roles. Use this day to begin to identify them clearly. Examine the way that you feel differently in each situation. And recognise that though each of those roles is an expression of you, not one single one of them IS you.
Then take that realisation beyond you into the world…….

XI Lust / Strength
Lust tells us to joyously accept life
Having a fascination and enthusiasm with the whole life process
Right attention is a challenging skill to develop
placing your attention in the moment, and then holding it there.
Sit down somewhere comfortably. Smooth and calm your breathing. Now first pay attention to your body…what does it tell you? Once you have attended to its needs, spread your attention out further….. deliberately engage one sense at a time. What do you see? Look in minute detail – you know you’ve got it right when you notice things you didn’t know were there before. Now add hearing. What do you hear? Really listen hard……again when you hear things you would not normally register, you’re doing well. What do you feel? See this as both a physical ‘feel’ and an emotional ‘feel’, then separate the two. What can you taste? How does your mouth feel? What do you smell? Can you unwind the different scents in the air?

XV The Devil
The Devil does not therefore necessarily represent an evil being.
The Devil is the personification of the animal, instinctual and even bestial parts of us
Pre-occupation with matters connected to the Devil can lead to degradation and sheer ugliness, but by identifying and accepting the darkness within we learn to discover that it is simply the dark side of our light.
it can appear to indicate evil acts, trouble, strife and conflict
And it is our lack of belief that causes most of the problems.
Our survival needs, like hunger, thirst, protection, warmth, safety are ruled by the card, as are our sexual desires and needs.
Our ability to think has got in our own way here.
Even if we don’t actually have a disorder as such, we can have hang-ups, inhibitions, insecurities, fears.
The important thing to remember here is that, this being the case, by shifting our viewpoint, altering our perspective, we can change the way we feel about the things in the Devil’s domain. And in achieving that, we set ourselves free to be who we are.
Look into your fears, and try to see if they have any basis in reality. If you find inhibitions in these basic areas, try to examine them. Locate their source..and then try to let go and move on. Remove the restrictions and limitations that narrow the boundaries of your horizon.

indecision leads to sadness and frustration.

Ten of Swords
presage a painful, even devastating event
the power in our own minds.
we pay too little attention to ensuring that we make only good things for ourselve
an unexpected, shocking and traumatic upheaval.
what we think today creates tomorrow.
Positive thinking is a habit.
We need to monitor our thoughts and feelings VERY carefully.
Now, carefully go back over the last few months (or years) looking for something in your own actions, thoughts, feelings that seems connected with this unhappy situation. And take a hard look at how your thoughtforms might have created it.
rule number 1 is to refuse to be judgmental, guilty or angry with yourself
Rule number 2 is to accept what you find, do what you need to do to mend it, and then enjoy the sense of positive energy that comes from treating yourself and life with love and respect.
