  • Garage Cleaning

Lisa had been asking me to clean the garage for a while. After Jacks soccer game it came down to work, novel, or garage. I went with the garage, but a fun soundtrack followed.

I am not sure how many people have ever cleaned their garage listening to Prince. I am pretty sure that even my friends in MN do not listen to his purple majesty while cleaning. But Funk puts the fun in anything–and this spaced out hippie record is one of my favorite by the purple one. Tasks got off to a very good start.

Next up I went with some Eno. I was hoping for some kind of techno machine rythem music, but got this instead. A rather noisy early record from the king of all sound, but fun never the less–I missed a lot of it because I was in and out of the garage so much and it did not really get me in the cleaning mood. I am still not sure what the reason for this record is, but I am glad that I tried it + I am really glad it is in my arsenal.

Massive. This is the one that got Lisa into the garage worried about what the neighbors would think. This record is so much better on vinyl. This record should be played every morning at city hall when the flag is put up. A great fun record that really made my work great.

    RZZZZZ!

I put this on for Lisa, but only listened to the first side. A good record, but I was done.

  • CASE 55: Seppô in Charge of Cooking

Seppô came to Tokusan and became in charge of cooking food.

One day, the lunch was late.

Tokusan came down to the hall carrying his bowls.

Seppô said, “Old Master, the bell has not yet rung nor the drum sounded. Where are you going with your bowls?”

Thereupon Tokusan went back to his room.

    Seppô told this to Gantô.

Gantô said, “Great Tokusan though he is, he has not yet realized the last word.”

Hearing of this, Tokusan sent his attendant to summon Gantô and then asked him, “Don’t you approve of this old monk?”

    Gantô whispered his intention.

    Tokusan remained silent.

Sure enough, the next day, when Tokusan ascended the rostrum, his talk was quite different from usual.

Gantô, rubbing his hands together, laughed and said, “Wonderful! How happy I am that our Old Man has realized the last word. From now on he’ll be subject to no one on earth.”

  • Starbuck’s Sumatra

    Country of Origin: Sumatra
    Appellation/Region:
    Estate/Farm: Farms
    Grower: Farmers
    Certification:
    Rating & Roast Notes:

This is a generic big batch copy. The over roast from Starbucks make it a nice coffee–rich and well roasted. I like this coffee a lot for the a late night brew–it carries a strong sense of Jazz that I really enjoy. It tastes like a good French roast to me, more then an Indonesian super coffee.

  • Princess of Swords

These are good traits to have for NaNoWriMo month ” intellectually inclined, perceptive and intuitive” — I could use all the power of observation possible during this month.

I will get to use my negotiator tactics this month–that is good!

I get to be more honest and more frank.

I need to watch for “angry, emotionally distressed and probably feeling vicious” type stuff, which I always need to watch for + I am not really feeling right now.

  • Portals to the Now

    Try a little
    experiment:
Close your eyes and say to
    yourself, “I wonder what my
next thought is going to be.”
    Then become very alert
and wait for the next thought.
    Be like a cat
    watching a mouse hole.
What thought is going to come
    out of the mouse hole?
    Try it now.

  • The Power of Now

    If a response is required
in a situation, focus within and
feel the inner body. You will
    immediately become still and
    present as you withdraw
    consciousness from the mind,
and the answer or action will
come up from this deeper level.

  • Power of Now

    You can always cope
    with the now,
but you can never cope with
    the future–no do you have
    to. The answer, the strength,
    the right action, or the
    resource will be there when
    you need it, not before,
    not after.

  • Rising Above Thought

    Are you worried?
    Do you have many
    “what if” thoughts?
    You are identified with your
    mind, which is projecting itself
    into an imaginary future
    situation and creating fear.
There is no way that you can
    cope with such a situation,
    because it doesn’t exist.
    It’s a mental phantom.

  • The Joy of Being

    Give up waiting
    as a state of mind.
    When you catch yourself
    slipping into waiting,
    snap out of it.
    Come into the present
    moment. Just be,
    and enjoy being.
    If you are present,
    there is never any need
for you to wait for anything.
