  • Dreaming of Joseph Lees

This was a very good British drama about a women living with an emotionally immature mess who has always loved this Joseph Lee geology stud. Lee lost a leg in a query blast, which provides the most action in the entire film. Lisa and I watched it over two days early in the morning and we both enjoyed it a lot. A fun, slow, British drama.

  • 300

This movie is fantastic. The Frank Miller comic was good, but not this good. Of course, the movie has the Spartans as clearly the good guys & I relate a lot more to the Other side.

  • Surf’s Up

Took Jack and Kate to see this after the Chili Cook Off-it was fantastic! The animation was great, the characters were fun, there was nothing really scary.

Kate is really enjoying playing penguin after this & Jack has started to “surf” his boogie board at the lagoon.

    A fantastic impact.

  • Mr Brooks

I went to a late show to see this with Thomas and Robert. I was not feeling well when we got to the theater.

The movie was really good. I have been spending my time on the evolution of the murder weapon–hatchet, shovel, scissors–in some way this appears to be a domestication of murder or something along those lines.

I also really like the notion that the killer was a clean freak, into ceramics, and was all about control.

This was a good movie and a fun experience.

  • Spider Man 3

I went and saw this with Gloves and Bobblehead–I liked it a lot. Medium Popcorn with way to much butter, great seats in the middle of the theater, and fantastic cross talk.

The special effects were insane, the suffering of Peter Parker was great, and the death of Hobgobblin could not have happened soon enought. I look foreward to the next installment of this series.

  • Cole Nobody Knows

An absolutely amazing documentary about Freddy Cole–great jazz performances, lots of nice interviews, a seriously strong artistic biography.

Sam and I thought that this was by far the best film of the four we saw & the film maker could clearly do more stunning work in this genre.

  • Fridays at the Farm

A very cool movie in which all the images are time lapse digital photos–a very cool idea! This movie was very serious & the narrators lack of distance really hurt the movie. I think abruptly changing the narration style during the film would have really helped.

  • The Cigar Makers

A short film about the people who make cigars in Miami. Fun and fast moving I really enjoyed the notion that what they did was Art with a big A.

  • Art Seymour: Solo Performance

I saw this with Sam at the Newport Beach Film Festival. It totally ruled! Seymour is this fantastic Chevron designer and this movie is a jazz like exploration of his genius.

  • Factory Girl

Anakin Plays Bob Dylan! This amazing film sets Edie up as the poor little rich girl who soul is being fought over by two of the most brilliant men of the last century. She must choose between Dylan and Warhol–it is amazing–she choosing wrong and pays.

This fictional battle is played so brilliantly–Warhol is EVIL–he even eats Hershey Kisses in Confession! Dylan is brilliant, insightful, and compassionate.

I do not think anyone else in the entire world will love this movie as much as me!
