  • No Country For Lost Men

I saw this with Raj, Paul, David, Robert, and Steadman. We saw the 2:00 PM University showing.

    It was great.

It is very violent and one of the main characters is a very crazy sociopathic serial killer. The narrator is killed in the first scene, or is omniscient, which I doubt.

The notion of genetics is very strong. The notion of chance is very strong. There is a lot going on that is really really good.

The notion of not backing down.

  • What Have I Done To Deserve This?

I watched this movie last night after my softball game. I think I slept through some of the middle sections, but the parts that I did see were excellent.

I love the disconnected plot madness and the way in which the characters just bounce around. I love the horrors of mindless daily existence exploding under farce. The comedy of this film is really good.

The notion of return to the Village, the comment that “your dad worked a lot. He did not notice.”, the fake Hitler letters & writers writing subtexts, and a bunch of other simple sections of the film will stay with me a for a long time.

The credits of this film were unwatchable, the soundtrack (with lots of German music) was very unusual, and the camera angles were often very claustraphobic.

    This was an excellent movie.

  • The Darjeeling LImited

This was a great movie. I saw it with Jeffery, David, and Robert. A classic film with all sorts of painful awkward moments.

  • Caution Lust

This was very slow and long. Nothing really happened and the final betrayal is rather meaningless. I did not enjoy this film in spite of the amazing cinematography.

  • Intruder

This was a very good movie. I am sure that I do not understand it, but the film was awesome. Great visuals and a plot that kept me on the edge of my seat.

I got this because of the Nancy tie in, but I have not read his original piece, so I am not sure at all how it fits in.

    Very strange indeed.

  • Basquiat

I got this from the Library again and watched it late at night. I really love this movie–there were scenes that I had not remembered (it was much longer then I thought).

This time through I was really blown away by how great the soundtrack was.

  • Across the Universe

This was a weird Beatles inspired look at the 1960’s. A lot of it was Hair style hippie silly, stuff like Bono as Ken Kesey; but, a lot of it was really visually excellent.

Great camera work, really good visuals, lots of neat puppet stuff–I liked this movie but would not recommend it to anyone.

  • Transformers

I liked this a lot–went with Jason & one of his friends–theater was packed and the movie was excellent. Again, not made for kids, but lots of great action and a fairly good plot.

Jack observed the sending the remains to the depth of the see was not a good plan–and I agree. I thought that sending the broken remains of the decepticons back to Antiarctica would have been a much better plan.

  • The Secret

Lisa and I stayed up late and watched this–it is not really in a movie, more a collection of good ideas from today’s top metaphysical thinkers. Stuff by the guy who wrote Chicken Soup for the Soul, stuff from the Men are From Mars guy, some whacky scientists that I have never heard from–that kind of stuff.

The topic is hard to follow and seems to be really focused on increasing the personal–of getting the things you want, of having the money that you need, etc. Lisa and I both responded very negatively to it, but were unclear on what we really disliked.

  • National Treasure

Jack and I started this–he moved to his GameBoy and Lisa and Kate came home and finished watching it with me Sunday night on the couch. I really liked this a lot–Lisa laughed at how into this film I got. Not sure what I found so fantastic, likely the problem solving that occurs very early in the film got my mind working. Jack had some general questions about why the bad guys were good guys that became bad guys. Not that deep, but he was not really paying attention. A fun film.
