So this brings to an end the work I did on the concept of close. not that effective, started strong, but then got diluted. I think that the concept may have been to rich, complicated, and close to home for me to really figure out all the implications. the things that I did learn mostly revolve around the belief that close is not the end, that one cannot control close, that close occurs based on factors that generally are unknown when open occurs, that gaps need to exist for people to be able to express themselves (and if they do not express themselves, or feel that they cannot, there are issues), and that close cannot be rushed.

none of this is all that profound or meaningful – and does not really indicate what my next theme should be. I will be selecting the new theme by this time next week.

Focus. For things to truly close there must be focus. Focus seems to come from confidence, the clarity that something is actually done, done correctly, done efficiently, done right.

    Close requires focus.

  • Close :: Run for the Roses

I originally started thinking about run for the roses because fo the line “You got the do re, I got the mi” – which is absolutely fantastic; but, when going over the lyrics, I realized how important this song is to the concept of close.

the bigger it opens, the sooner it closes.

I am not sure if this is true. The concepts do not seem to be related in all cases – in the general case. I think that this is yet another use of the word close to point to transformation – big things start changing everything around them almost immediately. The event that opens closes because it has become something else the moment it became “big”. This may even point to expectations and the notion that our desires cause suffering.

    I am not sure.

Big emotional openings seem to take a long time to close. Big work projects kick off and take years to close. What is this “it” – “all good things in all good times” seems to be pointing to the notion that expectations are likely involved – relax, take your time, if you open big you will immediately close what you are opening – if you allow it to open slowly, small, then it will stay open longer? is that good?

I am sounding very vague on this – which is not good. Likely I need to think a lot more about this song.
