  • Hoard of the Dragon Queen–D&D Encounters S19 S7

Another great week of D&D Encounters begins with taking out the trash!

Here is some time lapse of Jack in Action

Some day he will appreciate this…

We went to Chipotle for dinner

The shop was packed–DM Brian was in Wisconsin [Go Badgers], so DM Nathan & I had to carry the weight!

I went with the two table set up, again. Not sure I like it that much–for 4E games having space was required, but with 5E players really need to be able to hear & be heard by the DM more.

The Magic players have really dropped off

We found a near by Smart and Final and so our snacks have been restored to glory!

I had plenty of room behind the screen.

I am still very much in love with the Art for this Adventure–the maps, not so much, but the Art is amazing! My half-elf monk does look a lot more like David Cardin, for what it is worth…

Jack did some research on the word ‘Smudge’, in fact if you have a look at the video for this session, I had a lot of language issues–including a misuse of the word ‘steppe’, which is evidently pronounced like ‘step‘.

Someone threw out fries which I do not think has ever happened in a game store before.

Got home & Lisa had set out the Halloween stuff–going to be a great fall!

  • DM Summit V–D&D Encounters Hoard of the Dragon Queen @ Urban Plates

I tried to use the Pano setting on my iPhone this morning. I think it just made a mess…much like my pizza!

It was just Nathan & I this afternoon and he once again brought the worlds most adorable dog–that I cannot get to look at me when I have a camera in my hand to save my life!

We spent most of the call arguing the values of nosql & mongo DB–as you can imagine I am not a fan.

I did get some prep work in for Wednesday–but I think I need to spend more time with the material.

It was a good lunch, fun discussion, and enjoyable way to prepare for D&D Encounters this week…

  • Hoard of the Dragon Queen–D&D Encounters S19 S6

Another great week of D&D Encounters at Comic Quest!

This week started with taking out the trash & quickly moved to Pei Wei which is clearly one of the team favorites!

Jack brought his Oregonian Switchblade Fork just to make sure…

Two of the players at my table learned how to paint mini’s at PAX

I love those booths where you can try to paint mini’s & in my experience they often generate the best figures!

The Magic Crowd was way down again this week–which was good new for us…MORE TABLE SPACE!

I had  full table of Camille

    Andy, Garrett, Jack

    Lisa, David, Sharon

    And legendary player ALAN!

Brian’s table was also fairly crowded this week.

There was a new player here for her first time who jumped in and appeared to have a blast!

I am still using the Pathfinder iCrit & iFumble app which I think are amazing.

The encounters this week were mostly just silly combat events which was not that awesome–I hurried the roll play at the beginning because of table size & concerns I was not going to get to where we needed to be at the end.

We had a lot of Crits this week–including this amazing Fireball Fingernail Crit!

    Another great week!
  • DM Summit IV–D&D Encounters Hoard of the Dragon Queen @ Spectrum

We had our D&D Encounters DM Summit at the Spectrum today & I forgot to take pictures! It was very nice out & the mall was tons of fun.

Nathan ate at Panda Express and Brian and I got Veggie Grill.

Here are some pictures of the drive back to the office.

I am still not 100% sure what I am going to run this week–but it should be great!

  • DM Summit III–D&D Encounters Hoard of the Dragon Queen @ Veggie Grill

Brian & I stopped by Veggie Grill to discuss the upcoming session of D&D Encounters.

    Brian got the regular

I had some crazy burger with chili & a side of glazed cauliflower–it was wild, but delicious.

We reviewed how things were going at the shop, changes we had made in the encounters, and plans for the upcoming sessions.

    Here are the notes:

    Last Week

    1. Level Up
    2. Create a Story
    3. Rules Light
    4. Giving out magic
    5. healing
    6. Guilds not working at all

    DM Mechanics

    1. Plenty of space
    2. Stat blocks are hard to find
    3. Fantasy Island theme

It is always good to meet with the other D&D Encounter DM’s.
  • Hoard of the Dragon Queen–D&D Encounters S19 S4

Another week of exciting D&D Encounters at Comic Quest. But First, we have to put out Grandma’s Trash Cans–note the spacing…PERFECTION!

The Street had been repaved & the man hole covers carved out which made for an awesome drive.

We had dinner at Pei Wei–there were some exciting pre-game fortune cookies.

Jack & I are finally dialing in how to order here & the addition of these green beans was solid.

We have a very solid set of players this season & three solid table running at top volume–the Magic kids are still taking up half the shop, but we seem to have reached an easy peace with them.

Plus we got to film Level Two Judge Eric in Action this week

Jack is having a good time playing some wacky Sin Bad Tiefling Fighter

Leo and John are totally into it.

Brian’s table is loud & having a blast

DM Nathan had a very interesting table as well

And used some very innovative mini’s

I had plenty of room for my DM Stuff

The adventure ran smoothly–the players are very beat up & I was a bit behind the other tables so this week was a bit of  rushed session–but I am setting up for some surprises next session.

I am using the Pathfinder Crit iPhone app which is a ton of phun–we had some great crits & a few epic fumbles–I hope D&D Next comes out with some supplemental critical & fumble tables soon.

I have no idea what the this is supposed to be–a burnt weenie car antenna topper or something?
