  • THE ALL-NEW BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #5

I bought this at Alakazm. I read it at Peet’s by UCI while Kate was in Dance class.

A good issue–Jack really enjoyed it. Guy Gardner and Lobo both appear to battle some pre green lantern space cops with a silly alien.

Nothing new, but well paced and fun.

  • Dark Sun #3

    a

I picked this up at Alakazam & read it at the Peet’s Coffee by UCI while Kate was in dance class.

A fun book with a lot more characters then the last few issues–I kind of enjoyed this much more then the last issue.

I would still like to see something new in Athas–the world still feels exactly like the world of the Novels which one might think is a good thing, but turns out to be a little staid–I mean I understand Elves already. I am not looking foreword to being reintroduced to Halflings–though they remain my favorite part of Athas–but I fear that they will be simply cookie cutter copies of the novel characters.

One thing I always liked about Athas was the freedom to do what one pleased & I hope the team on this comic starts taking more risks.

  • Uncanny X-Force 1-3

I picked this up at Alakazam & was amazed. Rick is doing a bang up job on this book with excellent pacing and great dialog–something very rare in the current x-books. I really like Deathpool in this, which speaks volumes for how good the books are.

Adding it to my subscription & hoping Rick takes over all of the X-Books a la Claremont.

  • Dark Sun #2

This is only issue number two?

I had no idea–feels like issue #4. Which in this case is not really a good thing. The characters are starting to bore me already. the plot is starting to become very predictable. I do not really care what is going on or why.

I had a lot of hope for this when it was announced, but sadly it is really starting to fade on me…

  • Dungeons and Dragons #4

Another fantastic episode–our heros head further underground and continue at the maniac pace that has defined the last two issues.

The female halfling rogue totally steals this episode with some amazing underwater fun.

    Another great comic

  • Poems by Stefan Brecht

I actually could not find a picture of this book.

I am not sure when and where I got it–likely when I was at UCLA.

I read it for about three months–mostly because I was not inspired to read it.

Mostly poetry for poetry’s sake & not that great–glad that I read it, but mostly because I am glad to be finishing the City Lights Pocket Poets series.

  • The Way of Kings (Stormlight Archive #1) by Brandon Sanderson

I got this book from the Kindle store. I read it over about two months on my iPhone.

This is a completely amazing book.

I liked everything about it & have started using “Life over Death, Strength over Weakness, Journey over Destination” as my new life mantra.

    A totally fun read!

  • Dungeons and Dragons #2

I picked this up at Alakazam as part of my subscription. I actually got the variant cover as well-stoked.

A great fun read–Jack and I are both really enjoying it–fun and faced paced–all of the stuff the Heroic Age promised and did not deliver.

The plot did not really move forward much in this issue which is more about the fighting and meeting more enemies–we are chasing a shape shifter at this point. The Rock joke was good. Not that memorable, but fun.

  • RASL #8

I picked this up as part of my subscription at Alakazam.

Plot picked up a lot–we meet GOD!

    Very fun comic
