The Story: (hide• Aoa Wolverine, Deadpool And Nightcrawler Go On Mission To Kill Aoa Iceman! • What’s Left Of X-Force Returns From Otherworld!

Kurt kills Bobby for the sins of AoA–how awesome is that! I bought this at Alakazam & read it at home by the fireplace–a totally fun episode with strong energy in all of the right places. I am not sure exactly what Bobby did in AoA to piss Kurt off so much, but I loved the revenge–the throwing him into the kiln, and the knowledge that Rememder is a good enough writer to ensure that there will be consequences to his actions–that this is going to come back and haunt the team. But first we have more hurt to slap on Psylocke! I love where this story has been and where it is going–still the best book I am reading.

The Story: (hideThe trial of Fantomex concludes! The multiverse is in danger, the Captain Britain Corps is in shambles and it is up to X-Force to save the day. A terrible choice must be made for the protection of all reality!

This is Remender at his best–the heroes acting on the edge of ethics. I love that she has to step in so that her brother can stay the hero–felt a strong batman/superman kind of subtext at some level. I bought this at Alakazam and read it at home on a lazy Sunday–it is the kind of comic that I wish I had more time to think about.

The Story: (hideWolverine and AOA Nightcrawler face a strange and deadly new foe in Otherworld. Meanwhile, Fantomex’s sentence is carried out and he is injected with an anti-reality serum. Plus, Psylocke becomes Lady Briton!

A fun fight scene leads to some ok story telling–again X-Force is split up with each pair fighting for simple survival. There is some good Kurt stuff in this, Wolverine & Deadpool together are awesome. And I really like the reveal and Psylocke’s response to it. A good comic.

Remender telling a fun Otherworld story is not completely useless–let him stretch out a little & see what comes up–I support this even if it is not the greatest story ever told. I picked this up at Alakazam on Free Comic Book Day. I read it near the fireplace on a sunday afternoon when lisa was at mother’s day party with her family–she is helping to get shannon’s baby shower ready–I am not sure how imporant that is, but she and kate are enjoying it. the boys and I are just having a mellow at home day–maybe we can get something happening later. In any event, just a simple comic that moves the story a little–Fantomex & Psylocke mature some in their communication which is nice.

The Story: (hideAVX TIE-IN Cyclops leads the X-Men to a battle that may prove to be too much to handle. It’s brawn vs. brawn as Colossus and the Red Hulk face off for the future of the Marvel U.

Red Hulk beats up a powered up Collosus? COME ON! I picked this up at Free Comic Book Day at Alakazam. It is a fun read, part of a larger story, with some ok fight scenes–but I just cannot believe the story that they are telling in AvX–I mean the current x-men have shown time and again how incredibly powerful and cohesive they are–the Avengers would not have a chance. and to have Collosus loose to red hulk is just insulting–I assume set up for the big pro wrestling come from behind x-men win, but currently it is just making me angry to see heroes of this calibur loosing to b-team avengers. Still, I am not unhappy with where the X-Men are today compared to a year ago…

The Story: (hide• The X-Men Vs. Unit, The Galactic Genocidal Fugitive! • What Is Behind Unit’s Sinister Interest In Hope? • Building Towards Avx!

I picked this up at Alakazam on Free comic book day. It is buildup for Hope becoming Phoenix and all evil and stuff–which I totally support. It involves UNIT some alien all powerful being which I think is lame. But over all a good issue moving the story foreword some–I still think Gillen could do a lot better if he would stop trying so hard and just unleash awesome–but he is clearly moving in the right direction.

The Story: (hidePrison break! Featuring the Avengers!

I bought this issue at Alakazam on Free Comic Book Day–I had not picked up my subscription in months. I was glad that I did–it is a fun issue. Lots of whacky alien races–that once we know how to deal with them are easy to handle. But the great unknown Unit just wipes the floor with the X-Men. A very fun issue–and the tension with the Avengers is awesome. This is a good build up book to the summer block bluster & still moves with a deliberate pace–also more of the characters are starting to get to see some of the action. I do like where this book is going.
