St. Mark the Ascetic

Do not seek the perfection of the law in human virtues, for it is not found perfect in them. Its perfection is hidden in the Cross of Christ.
St. Hesychius the Priest

The hour of death will come upon us, it will come, and we shall not escape it. May the prince of this world and of the air (cf. John 14:30; Eph. 2:2) find our misdeeds few and petty when he comes, so that he will not have good grounds for convicting us. Otherwise we shall…
Surf’s Up

Took Jack and Kate to see this after the Chili Cook Off-it was fantastic! The animation was great, the characters were fun, there was nothing really scary. Kate is really enjoying playing penguin after this & Jack has started to “surf” his boogie board at the lagoon. A fantastic impact.

Mr Brooks

I went to a late show to see this with Thomas and Robert. I was not feeling well when we got to the theater. The movie was really good. I have been spending my time on the evolution of the murder weapon–hatchet, shovel, scissors–in some way this appears to be a domestication of murder or…
2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl

This book has some really really good stuff. Unfortunately, it breaks down with Pinchbeck’s sexist explorations of his base sexual desires. All the tripped out crop circle, calendar prophecy, and other weirdness get caught up in this kind of personal moping about a failed relationship and his criticism of modern relationships–something that he knows nothing…
