  • This week we are guided by the Moon

A full Moon gazes down at two howling dogs as a crayfish emerges from the water. An ocean can be seen in the background. The Fool’s path is illuminated by the Moon as it steers him away from the water.

The Moon is a symbol of the subconscious, the unknown, intuition and dreams. You may be wandering aimlessly and need to rediscover your sense of purpose. Intuition will succeed where reason might fail. It is time to make contact with your deepest self, face your fears and explore the unknown. There could be a breakthrough in terms of creativity and intuition.

Something in your life is not what it seems. Perhaps a misunderstanding on your part, or a truth you cannot admit to yourself. It may also indicate something important being kept from you by another. This may be a source of worry or depression in your life, and it is causing insecurity and delusion. The Moon is a strong indicator that you must rely on your intuition to see through the subterfuge, and signals a time for facing fears.

  • Lovers

A man and woman are surrounded by symbols of love and growth. Their hands indicate the path ahead. The Fool is a junction and he needs to decide which way to turn.

The Lovers card indicates that you need to make a decision. You may have decided to go down one road, but now another appeals to you. Making the wrong decision will have grave consequences. The decision might not be about love, but this card always indicates that you have to choose between two options.

Your first instinct will most likely be to associate this card as representing love and relationships, but, much like love, it does not possess a simple nature. Not only does love comes in many forms, but the Lovers may indicate important or conflicting choices ahead in your life. This is bad, in that the choices are generally mutually exclusive paths to two very different futures, but also good, in that it also confirms that at least one of those paths will take you to a good place. As such, if you happen to find it in your spread, you should consider it carefully, but not fear it. It tells a story of tough decisions, likely painful and involving internal struggles, but that the correct decision and a positive outcome are within your grasp.

  • This week we are guided by Justice

    This week I drew Justice.

A woman sits between two pillars, holding scales in one hand and an upraised sword in the other. The Fool is searching for another way, another goal and motivation for his life. He needs the judgment of someone wise and fair.

This card indicates that sometimes justice might appear to be unfair and cold, but it restores a sense of reason and creates a natural balance.

Justice can be a literal representation of justice or law, and it is a very good card to find in your spread if you have acted with kindness and fairness towards others and, especially, if you have been a victim. It is a significant indicator of fairness and a positive resolution, although how and what sort will depend on your own experiences. If you have been unfair, abusive, or otherwise shady and immoral in your dealings, though, pay heed. For the unjust, this card is, at best, a dire warning to change your ways before retribution falls upon you, and, at worst, a simple statement that it is already too late. In neutral cases, it may simply be telling you to seek out balance in your life.

    Hexagram 62: HSIAO KUO

    PREPONDERANCE OF THE SMALL

In a great storm the wise bird returns
to her nest and waits patiently.

This is a time of difficult and dangerous conditions. You should not be seduced into struggling, striving, or seeking solutions through aggressive action. Success is met only by waiting modestly for the guidance of the Creative.

Trying times are a test of our integrity and commitment to proper principles. The ordinary person reacts to challenges with fear, anger, mistrust of fate, and a stubborn desire to strike out and eliminate difficulty once and for all. While the temptation to act in this way can be great, to do so can only lead to misfortune and the loss of hard-won ground.

The way of the superior person faced with difficulty is that of nonaction rather than action. She does not strive after recognition or resolution or attempt to gain a higher position by conquering others. Instead, she retreats into her center and cultivates humility, patience, and conscientiousness. On the path of acceptance, self-inquiry, and self-improvement we obtain the aid of the Creative and meet with success after the storm has passed.from the I Ching, or Book of Changes: A Guide to Life’s Turning Points, by Brian Browne Walker

  • This week we are guided by the King of Pentacles

Here we have a man who is motivated to bring forth a new business, or to work hard to start something from scratch. He’s likely to save money or work hard toward restoring and improving his health. He is often pleased with what he has achieved in life so far, and might be a civil servant, manager, farmer or engineer. Everything he has done so far was aimed at getting him to where he is now.

To him, remaining in charge is simple common sense and he can be relied on. Everything he works on has a way of turning out successful, growing steadily and producing abundance. He is very careful about the chances and risks he takes, and if possible avoids risk. As a result, he doesn’t appreciate change and innovation.

The King of Pentacles embodies the mature and dependable aspects of maturity. It symbolized reliability and discipline. Anyone represented by this card is tied to success and status, and is likely conservative. While it may refer to your own characteristics, the Kings most often stand in for other people in your life who can aid you. You can expect this person to value prudence of intelligence, and, if it represents an event, it may be a financial windfall or promotion.

  • This week we are guided by the Ten of Pentacles

On this card, a man, woman and baby are strolling through the entrance to the grounds of a château. Outside an old man is sitting, petting one of two dogs. He represents the riches he is passing on to the generation that comes after him. In their turn, they will pass on theirs to the their child.

The card describes the aspirations you have to establish a home for your family and loved ones. This is part of the cycle of life, and sometimes when you have all you need, you might forget what it was like in the past.

Your prosperity and financial security and emotional well-being are both positively indicated by the presence of this card in your spread. This is only partially your own doing, however, as these positive aspects are inextricably bound up in your close relationships with friends and family. It may also foretell an inheritance, or retirement.

  • This week we are guided by Temperance

An angel stands above a pond with one foot on dry land and the other on the water pouring water between two cups. The angel is equally comfortable in the conscious or subconscious. This is the still point that brings everything into balance.

Temperance relates to patience, self-control and calm. It suggests that if you have been through difficult times recently, you will soon feel calmer and cope better. You are handling things well and are able to take diverse elements and make them work together to form a stronger whole. It represents a need for moderation and balance.

An optimistic card, Temperance encourages you to find harmony and balance in your life and approach problems with patience and a calm demeanor. It recognizes that opposing forces need not be at war within you. Tread carefully in any major decisions you make, with confidence that good decisions will lead to a good resolution for you. Problems in your life might be solved with moderation and self-control.
