  • Gateway 2019 Swag

This year at Gateway, that Catalog cover may have been the best yet

    I got new dice

and some candles — one for downstairs and one with more scent for the Boys room

And I used CON paints to paint my latest Alcion Mini

  • Deliquesce > Acquisitions, Inc. vocab

Patrick Rothfuss kills with the vocab!

  • Gateway 2019 – Game 3

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce you to Morgan’s Rangers

One of the greatest gaming tables I have ever had the privillege of sitting down with. We had Grognards collecting bags of ash, Critter’s with dice trays and RP theatrics, a DM who said “yes, and” to everything, and more laughs in four hours then I have ever had in my life. A great way to end the Day at Con! Cody’s Grung Ranger had a Bowl of Water Elemental Summoning which broke every encounter.

Basically, he would just drop one of these in the middle of every fight

and then our Mage would drop a fireball and the encounter would be over–even when DM Morgan tried to super power the encounter

we were just dominating them even ending in perfect formation

and man, the fights did get progressively harder

But Morgan’s Rangers dominated! Cody and I left CON with joy in our hearts

  • Gateway 2019 – Game 2

When these two mad men sit down at your table you KNOW you are about to have some fun!

And when you DM Grognard is posting up with a strong Hawaiian Shirt game!

Before the game began Cody and I got some CON snacks

We also picked up some other swag — including a fantastic new set of Dice Envy Dice

Our dice rolling was OK over all

But there was a string of real tragic rolls that not even clever sparkly inspiration tokens could salvage.

  • Gateway 2019 – Game 1

DM Shannon lead a solid crew into Myth Nantor–the sea elf city–to determine what the Red Wizards of Thay wanted with the Libarian.

Cody and I were joined by Ethan

    And Linus

Who were playing fantastic characters. We spent a large part of the game in some very fun role play–including a lot of new Vocab words! Our boat had a small treubuchet mangonel

and the Sea Elf city had four rules:

    1. No Murder
    2. No Stealing
    3. No Poluting the Water
    4. Listen to the Council

and we were able to get in the superfecta hat trick!

and continue the never ending conversation on pronunciation

Combat used the Candy Rules (“if you kill it, you eat it”)–which is always fun to see at CON

Which only gets complicated when a citizen runs away

DM Shannon voted it is players choice on who eats it–which was a solid decision.

My Notebook game was really on point this CON

Cody is still carrying the Jim Zub books with him everywhere–which is really good to see–a D&D Book that is getting that much use.

Our dice & mini game is very good

We did get some solid Tier Two crits!

  • Eye of the Beholder

I watched this amazing history of D&D Art on the Amazon Platform–I think it was free on Amazon Prime.

It is an amazing look at the history of D&D Art with a lot of the interviewees actually being the artists who worked at TSR! Great history, fun stories, and overall a fantastic documentary! Required watching for fans of D&D.

One highlight for me was Satine Phoenix describing Frazetta painting with dramatic motion and sounds–completely awesome!
