  • Imp in the Fountain; or, Why Does This Bath House Smell like Sewage?

Another Great week of D&D Encounters playing Adventure Leagues Baldur’s Gate: Descent Into Avernus.

DM Richard had a huge table–here are the guys I recorded (I think two more showed up late):

    • Brian-Eagle Ed-Dragonborn “Paladin”
    • Cody-Hox-Kobold Fighter
    • David-Falcon-Dragonborn Paladin
    • Greg-Nielig-Goliath Fighter
    • Devlin-Ostra-Human Rogue
    • Naomi-Mimi-Kobold Bard
    • David-Rundus-Gnome Wizard
    • Rumi-Baz-Elf Wizard
    • Kazra–Simorg–Halfling Rogue
    • Joshua–Idelish–Human Druid
    • Justin–Tyjon–Halfling Rogue
    • Rock–Nashar–Dwarf Cleric
    • Oshi–Pidgeon–Lizardman Rogue

This is my first week with the new camcorder which required MicroSD memory that I bought seperately from Target–not a big deal & actually was awesome for moving files to youtube–I can copy from MicroSD directly from laptop rather then across the USB cable.

Also, the camera ran on battery. DM Richard was set up and ready to go as more and more players kept streaming into the table.

There really were a ton of players–we took up the entire back room.

There was even a second row!

Our mini game could use some work–we had a few custom paints, some Soda Pop Mini’s, and a collection of Wiz Kids, but over all the table could use more mini focus and precision–lots of mini’s bore little resemblance to the character.

The tables dice game remains strong–including a new set of Dice Envy’s and two sets of Starter Set.

I rolled this Critical Hit with the Official Avernus Dice–first of the season!

There were skittles and a few snacks, but we really need to up our game in this area.

And we had our first Dwarf Tattoo–it read something like “I am the best version of me”, but I do not read Dwarf…Maybe we could get a translation?

    Here are the Season Stats

    Critical Hits

    • Grapple — DM Richard
    • Long Sword–David
    • Lizardman–Rock2
    • Sneak Attack–Justin

    Table Highs

    • Breath Weapon 11 (tie–Falcon/Shahin & Hawk)
    • Healing 11 (Brian Healing Word)
  • Weekly Video Delays

The AC Adapter that I use for my camcorder broke and I was not able to splice it back together again.

The camera is 18 years old and may have more serious issues–but I have purchased a new adapter from Amazon & should know by the end of the week.

    Stay tuned!

  • The Flock Descends on Avernus

DM Richard is back for another season of Adventure League for D&D Encounters at Alakazam comics!

The Flock purchased him a DM Reward mini for all that he does to ensure that we have the best table in Irvine (regardless of what the Silent But Deadly squad says.

This Infernal War Machine mini is really one of the greatest D&D things that I have ever seen.

The rest of the Flock was lined up and ready to go–Rumi and his dad Kasra, Oshi and his dad Rock, Brian and Returning Alan joined Cody, Jordan and I.

The “plan” was for us to have a party of Dragonborn Paladins, but that did not go accordingly…in fact, only Jordan and I followed directions with a Kobold Fighter, a Dragonborn Bard (pretending to be a paladin), a Human Paladin (identifying as a Dragonborn, maybe–it was unclear what Alan is doing), a Dwarf Cleric, a Lizard-folk Rogue, a Lizard-folk Ranger, & a Halfling Rogue…

All this made for a very crowded table, but DM Richard did a great job getting us through the introduction and immediately into the action–a Session One Bar Fight!

As evidenced by the photos above, Falcon’s plan of killing all the things that appear evil did not get off to a great start as I was knocked unconscious round two (after a great surprise breath weapon attack for 11 & a fantastic grapple attack [beating a natural 20]).

Rock, Brian, & the Returning Alan were not impressed!

Cody and I had our dice game cranked up to 11!

    Critical Roles

    • Grapple — DM Richard

    Table Highs

    • Breath Weapon 11 (tie–Falcon/Shahin & Hawk)
    • Healing 11 (Brian Healing Word)

This season is going to get weird…

  • Waterdeep: Dragonheist (Family D&D)

I ran through some more of the Waterdeep Dragonheist adventure for Sunday D&D. Kate and Lisa are not really into it, but Cody is obsessed. Jack did not play at all–he took a nap or some how disengaged.

I am using these great dice–that I got from Alakazam

We ran three quick faction quests & then started the Fireball chapter

Cody is using a fantastic rolling tray and has some of the best dice in the world.

Claire the Cleric, Lisa’s character is still trying to figure things out–but it is getting better. This sesson was quick and well received by the family–we will likely start playing more often if we can have quick painless sessions like today.

Plus, who does not like to fight a Carrion Crawler!

  • A Cete of Badgers Live Play

The Oreos complete the liberation of the Abby by defeating two iron golems. Mostly a fun end of season session as we prepare for Descent into Avernus.

  • A Cete of Badgers

Another fun week of D&D Encounters Adventure League at Alakazam Comics.

Cody and I hit Starbucks and meet up with Brian pre game before heading over to the shop.

We had a super fun table with Rumi and his dad joining us as well as Victoria and Rich back at the table.

Cody finally lost control of his Water Elemental, which wrecked the party, but with some fine rolling we were finally able to clear the infestation from the Abby!

This concluded our Ghosts of Saltmarsh adventure next week we head into Avernus!

  • Great Video on D&D Magic Weapons

This is a fantastic overview of the D&D Magical Weapons.

When Cody heard the beginning of the video he went running upstairs to get his Dungeons Master Guide! So fun…

  • T-Rex Swallows Vampiric Jade Statue

D&D Adventure League goes NEXT Level at Alakazam Comics this week as one of the table shows up with Team Shirts!

How great is this! I am actually JEALOUS!

DM Richard continues to be an amazing Dungeon Master as he leads the Oreos through Ghosts of Saltmarsh–this is week four of the deserted island Abby adventure, which continues to exhibit all of the joy of a Classic Gygaxian Dungeon Crawl.

The party was back up to full force with veteran Oreos’ returned–our Monk and Elf were very helpful in this encounter.

Cody had a very solid central spot and was ready with his new mage–a defestating gnome who could transform into a T-Rex with devastating effect.

We had two very fantastic new players that were dropped off by their dad & super stoked to be at the game–new players like this showing up makes me super happy!

We had a super solid charge to the Abby End Game, which we appear to have missed–instead we found a fake treasure room with a Jade Statue that turned into some horrible Vampiric creature–a true mess!

Luckily, Cody transformed into a Tyrannosaurus Rex and swallowed the Vampiric Jade Statue whole–ending the encounter quickly!

Cody’s dice collection is looking very solid!

I am still playing with some classic Gamescience dice–I actually want to order new ones for Descent into Avernus which we plan to start in a few weeks.
