  • Evan Eisenberg – The Recording Angel

Music lives in time, unfolds in time. So does ritual.

  • Indeep, "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life"

    There’s not a problem that I can’t fix,
’cause I can do it in the mix.

  • Jesus (second-century gnostic humn)

Whosoever danceth not, knoweth not the way of life.

  • Rumi

Whosoever knoweth the power of the dance, dwelleth in God.

    _____
    notes
    1/ started late
2/ new porcupine tree announced before we started
3/ “search through god music thing”
4/ theme was again religious – that the answer is inside us and not out there, not in some book, and we are not giving answers anyway. Fairly straight theme & nothing really new here – besides the Porcupine Trees stuff which ruled.

  • Clifs Bars

I like peanut butter. Peanut butter Toffee Buzz are also good – but there is something simple and clean about the straght peanut butter.

  • Tagore

God respects me when I work
But he loves me when I sing

  • Bolsa Chica

paddled out today for the first time in a long time. Not a very good session, but I only got to work one hour late so it was a good dry run.

I went to Bolsa Chica, way on the far right side. Had a nice little point all to my self, but the current pushed me off & then I got stuck inside – I had the wrong board anyway – so I got out & went in.

Took Warner to Bolsa Chica to work, which was awesome – now I just need to figure out how to get to the sand more quickly.

Tonight is library night, which I am very excited about – I will be checking out Jack’s surf shop for other stuff.

  • What is on the Shelf

Feeling a little overwhelmed with everything on the shelf again; so, I thought that I would make a list….
    1. Phil Lesh Autobiography
    2. Freud
    3. Lacan
    4. Ram Dass – Be Here Now
    5. Break open the head
    6. Heart Yoga
    7. Guns Germs and Steel
    8. Origins of Species
    9. Varieties of Religious Experience
    10. Merril – Complete works
    11. Robinson – Gilead
    12. Bringing down the house

    there is likely more…

so this week, I will try to get through the Heart Yoga & Phil Lesh stuff. I think I should be close to finishing Gilead by end of next week. I am not sure when I can find more time to read – I am seriously way far behind on the NY Times reading – like a complete week I think …

somehow I will finish all this stuff and catch up…

So Jim Ladd was on fire – started with some crazy classical classic rock combo, the mayhem was going strong with the red pill stuff from Matrix, lots of acid talk, floyd was rolling, the Doors were coming on strong. Everything was just like I like it & then someone called in and reminded him that it was the Ohio State Anneversary & everything went south – we had some CSNY which was ok, but then we got all this lame ass hippie emotionalism – hippies are great at metaphysics, but when it comes to emotional expression they often just go straight with the cliches and stay there – slowly, with feeling. It can totally be horrible.

Ah well, there is always next week.
