The Dream Lord, great Isachar, sat in front of the mirror, his back close to the surface, his head bent far back and sunk deep in the mirror. Hermana, the Lord of Dusk entered and dived into Isachar’s chest until he disappeared.”

Working in Public: The Making and Maintenance of Open Source Software by Nadia Eghbal
Working in Public: The Making and Maintenance of Open Source Software by Nadia Eghbal
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
A fun overview of open source development–lots of good reminders of where GitHub started and where it is today. Some interesting reflections, but not a lot of new thinking or good ideas–just descriptions of the challenges and general quotes on where some people are thinking of going, but the book lacks a theme or some kind of guiding principle on what is the best long term plan. Basically, this could have used an IA review for authorial tone–with a vision one could agree or disagree and the conversation would be helpful. As it is, this is more a reflection on the things we all remember.

Puss in Boot’s cute eyes attack with advantage

Another great week at Alakazam comics
I am running Keys From The Golden Vault live from Alakazam Comics in Irvine, CA. This week our tabaxi heroes raid the museum to acquire the Murkmire stone! We had three new players at the table and were able to get their characters up and running in under thirty minutes which is amazing. We did have eight at the table again, which is a lot, but everyone had a good time as the sudden and inevitable betrayal occurred.
The shop is looking great!

There is a creepy doll at the entrance.

I had the players draw a picture of their character’s outfit for the Gala

My notebook is still a mess–I am almost ready to start a new one and I have a lot of thoughts on what I can do better.

March 23
Humility does not mean a submissiveness, a passiveness, a willingness to be walked on, or a desire to live in the doghouse. Humility is a virtue by which we recognize ourselves as we really are, not as we would like to b in the eyes of the publics; no as our press notices say we are, but as we are in the sight of God when we examine our conscience.

The Passenger by Cormac McCarthy
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Oh my, LORD! Cormac is a damn American institution–a gift from God. So great. So intense. I mean, just everything about this book is completely next-level. Strongly recommended.
