Transcendental Style in Film: Ozu, Bresson, Dreyer by Paul Schrader My rating: 5 of 5 stars I am pretty sure this is the best book on film that I have read. Changed the way that I saw movies. Made me very happy and confident that I could read movies with more precision and depth. Something that came out of the conversations this has spawned is my son Jack’s opinion that a lot of my criticism is not valid for the film–too academic. Too over the top.
