The Story: (hide) The Dark Angel Saga: Part 2. Trapped in the Age of Apocalypse! To acquire their salvation Fantomex must lead a team of X-Men to a distant galaxy and steal the origins of life itself from the god race known as The Celestials! On Earth, within the mysterious floating city know as The Sky, the rest of X-Force fight through an army of twisted versions of Earth’s mightiest beings as they seek a route home. If they do not succeed, and soon, Archangel will become the new Apocalypse!

More brilliance from Rick Remender. I picked this up at Alakazam comics. It took me a while to read–came out just before my birthday and I did not get to it until 08/10/11. This is rare for me since this is still one of my favorite books going.

I loved this book–even though I am not such a fan of the tough as nails Jean Grey. The tension between her and Wolverine is awesome. In fact, Wolverine really steals every part of this book, except for the cover! And what an amazing cover!

I tried to hang it in my bedroom, but Lisa said no–but seriously that is one fantastic sexy image.

Wolverine meets his AOA daughter, Wolverine chugs scotch while looking at the stars, Wolverine gets of glib one liners. All of this is fine, but where is Deadpool? Rick is the only one who writes him at all well and here he does not get the focus he deserves in this issue.

And the Fantomex and Psylocke thing feels very forced–a left cross into embrace is just not what I was hoping for. I am looking foreword to this relationship developing, but maybe a little slower. Psylocke has demonstrated so many fast relationship blunders in the past it would likely be best to get them started in couple counseling now.

Also, the sentinels look really good in this book. I hope we see more of them–a lot more!

and finally, the villains–I am not a scholar on AOA bad guys, but this guys sure look like they are going to have a lot of fun & I love Kurt’s first response–RUN.

A very fun comic book.
