The Story: (hide) FEAR ITSELF TIE-IN! The X-Men are used to being feared. When FEAR ITSELF finally reaches the west coast, they’re going to become well acquainted with the emotion first hand. The unstoppable power of an old foe renewed is heading their way, and they have all the time in the world to realize how little they can do to stop him. And even more time to think about exactly how he’s going to destroy San Francisco and everything it stands for. Parts 1 and 2 (of 4)
I bought this at Alakazam during Alakacon! Which is a fun annual sale. The guy who works the shop was having a lot of fun with it as well. We talked about the next upcoming panel, the joys of potato burritos, the crowds in San Diego. I encouraged him to pass my College Covers idea on to DC. We made fun of Grant Morrison’s book. The entire thing was a lot of fun.
I read it at home the next day while Jack was reading the Avengers, who are also in this Fear Itself cross over thing. I am really not sure I could care less about Fear Itself–I do not know where it came from, I have no interest in more bad guys getting hammers. I just am not at all connected to this story and I am not sure who is. It is impacting every X-Book as we enter Schism, but it does not seem to be connected. It just appears to be mostly lazy writing.
I am very glad that Land has returned–always brings a smile to my face!
The issue was good. My absolute favorite part was Hope, which is a huge surprise to me since I thought I was completely disconnected from her–but I really loved this image:
I also like that the plan fails–I am hoping to see Scott have to deal with his hubris. I loved Emma’s image at the end as well. Just a really fun fight issue.
