Apophthegmata Patrum

There was a man who at a lot and was till hungry, and another who ate little and was satisfied.

The one who ate a lot and was still hungry received a greater reward than he who ate little and was satisfied.

  1. There is something a little strange in this–to not receive is the message. The Secret outlines the plan as Ask, Believe, and Receive–but this strongly asserts that you do not receive. In fact, I am not sure that the desert fathers would encourage the asking–they seem to stress the reduction of desire–to ask is to desire.
