Big Sur by Jack Kerouac

This is a completely amazing book–the mental anguish is so chilling I had trouble sleeping after reading it. The ending is also awesome–he closes his eyes, golden sleep descends, and he opens his eyes a minute later. And everything is OK. Everything is fine. A fantastic read.
