39. Fear of Life and Death

We pass continually from life to death to life;
and the fears of life are as many
as are the fears of death.

It has been said that one who walks in Tao
can go through life without any protection
and neither the rhinoceros nor the tiger
become cause for alarm.
One who walks in Tao will enter into battle
without fearing the sword.
The rhinoceros finds no place to put his horn.
The tiger finds no place to fix his claws.
The sword finds no place to thrust itself.

Why is this?
Because on who walks in Tao
has no fear of death.
