Frida

I was really fired up for this film, but it was not that great. It did not have much new insight into what makes an artist–it was mostly about the Relationship–about jealousy and acceptance, which is fine, but there was a bigger story to tell here.

The early tragedy (and the special effects around it) was fantastic. The communist stuff was fairy predictable and not all that insightful. The scene with the Sister on the Day of the Dead was epic, the stuff with Trotsky & French Lesbianism was less so.

I am not sure, but I did not get nearly the hit from this that I was hoping.
