Kontakia of St. Romanos, A Prayer.

The wicked one, on the watch, carried me off as booty as I lazily slept. He led my mind into error; he plundered my spirit and snatched away The wealth of Thy grace, this arch robber. So raise me up, as I am fallen, and summon me, Saviour, Thou who dost will that all men be saved.

  1. Biography of this guy seems to indicate that he is closer to what I describe as a Desert Father–lived in Egypt, at least.

  2. who dost will that all men be saved.I really like this notion, that everyone is destined for salvation.

  3. on the watchI like the vigilance of evil represented in this.

  4. Led, Plundered, and Snatched–those are the activities of the wicked one; so, conversely those who do not lead, plunder, or snatch are not wicked.I will look at how I lead, how I plunder, and what (exactly) it is that I snatch in an effort not to be evil.
